Michelle of The True Book Addict and Castle Macabre is having a blogoversary and is marking the occasion by announcing Gothic September! This year, it is all about Edgar Allan Poe. Specifically, there will be read-a-longs of his short stories.
The read-a-long discussion schedule is as follows.

Week of Sept. 7 – 13
The Cask of Amontillado
Week of Sept. 14 – 20
The Fall of the House of Usher
Week of Sept. 21 – 27

Carl at Stainless Steel Droppings has passed on the baton for R.I.P. X to The Estella Society. This year I will be participating in two levels.

Peril of the Short Story:We are big fans of short
stories and the desire for them is perhaps no greater than in Autumn.
You can read short stories any time during the challenge. We like to
read short stories over the weekend and post about them around that
time. Feel free to do this however you want, but if you review short
stories on your site (not a requirement) please link to those reviews on
the Review Site. It is not just a site for book reviews.

Peril On the Screen: This is for those of us that
like to watch suitably scary, eerie, mysterious gothic fare during this
time of year. It may be something on the small screen or large. It might
be a television show, like Dark Shadows or Midsomer Murders, or your favorite film.
The list of books I will be reading from are:

  1. Strangers on a Train by Patricia Highsmith
  2. And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
  3. The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
  4. The Woman In White by Wilkie Collins
  5. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
  6. The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe
  7. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
  8. House of Usher  by Edgar Allan Poe
  9. The Cask of Amontillado  by Edgar Allan Poe
  10.  Ligeia by Edgar Allan Poe
