I originally read Anne Frank’s Diary when I was eleven or twelve years old. I remember her view of the world, during a horrendous time in history, and around my age left a huge impact and, like so many other girls is the reason I started a diary however, I’m sure my middle school ramblings were nowhere near as profound.
I have seen several interviews with Miep Gies and despite having a co-author it is her voice that you hear. I appreciated reading about those hiding, and the hiders from an adult’s perspective giving a well-round picture of the plight of the annex’s residents and their helpers which included Miep Gies and her husband Jan (Henke) Gies.
Anne Frank Remembered in a sense reminded us that there was so much more to the people written about in Anne’s diary and is a remarkable book.

I had been wanting to read Anne Frank Remembered for a while and found it in a little library. I was motivated to read it because of the limited series on Disney+. If you’ve been thinking about reading I’d definitely recommend it and, as always, the book is much better than the tv series.
