To Be Read Thursday: The Book Eaters

Posted September 15, 2022 by Whitney in TBR Thursday / 4 Comments

My tbr is getting out of control. It is time to take action and remind myself of all those goodies on my shelf.  To get motivated I started a meme, To Be Read Thursday.  Each week, I will highlight one book that I physically own, be it arc, bought, paperback or ebook, and is on my tbr. It could have been there for months or just acquired it yesterday, but the point is to spotlight and read novels on my tbr list.

Out on the Yorkshire Moors lives a secret line of people for whom books are food, and who retain all of a book's content after eating it. To them, spy novels are a peppery snack; romance novels are sweet and delicious. Eating a map can help them remember destinations, and children, when they misbehave, are forced to eat dry, musty pages from dictionaries.
Devon is part of The Family, an old and reclusive clan of book eaters. Her brothers grow up feasting on stories of valor and adventure, and Devon—like all other book eater women—is raised on a carefully curated diet of fairytales and cautionary stories.
But real life doesn't always come with happy endings, as Devon learns when her son is born with a rare and darker kind of hunger—not for books, but for human minds.

Why It Is On My TBR

I love books about books. Even though I’m a month late getting started I was very excited to receive The Book Eaters from my Fantastic Strangelings Book Club Subscription. The plot sounds unique and, the little that I’ve read of it I’m pretty sure this is going to be a page-turner.

  1. This is on my TBR also, though fairly recently. I found a couple similar memes a few weeks ago that I participate in: Shelf Control and Books from the Backlog. It’s caused me to go blow the dust off some books on my shelves!!
