Tea Purge

Posted May 2, 2019 by Whitney in Uncategorized / 0 Comments

I’ve been a tea drinker since I was a kid. I have also always used tea bags.  Last year I participated in Plastic Free July and learned that there is actually plastic in those tea bags I’d been consuming.  I was astounded and immediately began to switch over to loose leaf tea.

I am fortunate enough that my local co-op allows customers to buy tea in bulk so I was able to try several different teas with little investment. However, as I try to practice a zero-waste lifestyle I couldn’t bring myself to throw out my tea bags and over the past year I’ve slowly been making my way through them. I’ve made progress, but I still have a long ways to go.

With the varity of teas available I could easily see myself going on a tea spending-spree. Therefore, I’ve decided that I cannot bring any more tea into the house until I finish a box. I’m sure this is a pact I will easily break, but a girl can try.
