Harry Potter Book Tag

With my Harry Potter Blogathon going on this week, I thought a Harry Potter Book Tag would be a perfect addition.

1 Favorite book?

For years, my favorite book was The Prisoner of Azkaban as that is where J.K. Rowling’s storytelling really starts to improve and Harry Potter’s story (in my opinion) really starts to take off. However, recently, I have grown to like The Order of the Phoenix. Despite my continued dislike of Hermione’s S.P.E.W. which takes up way too many pages, and a certain Godfather’s death I liked how a lot was explained as to why Voldermort is after Harry with the boy-who-lived beginning to understand his destiny as well as a small scene that gives the reader a fleeting glance at a horcrux. Plus, we have Umbridge who is a character I love to hate.

2 Least favorite book?

When I was younger it was The Order of the Phoenix due to the reasons I mentioned above. Now, it is The Sorcerer’s Stone. Despite the nostalgia and magical world it holds, the first book in the series is the most child-like with Rowling still finding her voice.

3 Favorite movie?

It is a toss-up between Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the Order of the Phoenix– Ralph Fiennes as Voldermort and Imelda Staunton as Umbridge make both movies.

4 Least favorite movie?

I don’t think I have a least favorite movie but there are certain aspects that I think the films failed by not explaining in more detail. An example is Neville Longbottom’s parent’s insanity in Order of the Phoenix. I thought an opportunity to develop Neville as a character was sorely missed. I also always wished Lupin had gone into more detail in Prisoner of Azkaban about his time as a student at Hogwarts and creating the Marauders Map. Lastly, in Half-Blood Prince I would have liked to see more on Lord Voldermort’s past. I know not all the memories could have been shared but at least one involving Tom Riddle finding a horcrux would have been nice.

5 Favorite quote?

“Turn to page 394.” I love that line, mainly because of Alan Rickman’s delivery.

6 Favorite Weasley?

It is hard to choose just one. But I’ve always enjoyed Ginny. Unfortunately, she goes unnoticed until she starts dating Harry (minus being possessed by Voldermort) but she a strong, understated character, much like Neville Longbottom.

7 Favorite female character?

What kind of bookworm would I be if I didn’t say Hermione Granger? Books and Cleverness equals awesome!

8 Favorite villain?

Besides Voldermort Barty Crouch Junior he is demented, brainwashed, and like Bellatrix Lestrange devoted to evil.

9 Favorite male character?

Neville Longbottom is the unsung hero in the series, he is Samwise Gamgee.

10 Favorite professor?

As a reader it is Snape, he is the teacher we all love to hate only to discover how brave he is. Although, if I was actually a student I think I’d prefer Professor Sprout, as she seems the kindest. Also, my favorite DADA teacher is Gildaroy Lockhart, I would hate to actually have him as a teacher but his big-headedness is so entertaining!

  1. Things are hazy in my mind, but I love that you picked that quotation! Personally, all that comes to my mind is Lengadum Leviosa (not even sure I’ve spelt it right!)

I like Neville too. It’s a toss, though, between him and Harry — both characters that grow immensely through the series.

I had a really tough time with the Weasley question.

Here are my book tag answers!
