Wuthering Heights Wednesday is all about the Wuthering Heights Read-along hosted by Jill at Fizzy Thoughts with each week we will read three chapters from the classic novel and then post our thoughts on, you guessed it –Wednesday!

Chapters 13-14 & Chapter 1 of Book 2
Heathcliff returns with his not so blushing bride Isabella who has been disowned by her brother who is disgusted by her blunder.  Meanwhile, while Isabella is left at Wuthering Heights, which is slowly becoming a hovel Heathcliff is stalking the grounds of Thrushcross Grange waiting for Edgar to leave so he many spend a few precious moments alonge with Cathy.  Although Cathy, is still locked in her room being driven mad with desire.

My Thoughts:
I feel like I’m becoming redundant, but I still feel no empathy with any of the characters.  Everyone is to some degree very self-centered and disagreeable.   These few chapters did not do much for me as they felt very similar to the previous few with not much changing.  Still enjoying the novel, just not the characters.

I think you all have patience being able to read any book three chapters a week!

I am definitely a one book at a time person.

To tell you the truth, I don't think I have a favourite character in this novel. I remember reading it a few years ago, but after I finished it, it took me about a month to really like it. I guess time changes opinions.. I don't know. But it's one of my favourites now. Who knows if I'll like it a second time around.

  3. I think the reason I like it so much is because I don't care for any of the characters; and that it keeps me thinking after having finished.

  4. I don't think any of the characters are written to inspire empathy, at least not from what I can remember. I remember thinking lesser of the evils when reading 🙂

  5. I don't think the characters were written to receive empathy either. I was mainly looking for a new descriptive word, I felt like I was a parrot repeating myself each week.
