Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite/Least Favorite Books of 2012

Posted December 18, 2012 by Whitney in Top Ten Tuesday / 8 Comments

Giving a nod to “best books of the year” is the norm for end of year thoughts, and I love recommending them, but what about those ho-hum books.  I am not trying to say that said books were horrible, just not to my taste, and I thought it would be fun to include them on this list too.
Note: some of these I have yet to review
Favorite
  1. 11/22/63 by Stephen King
  2. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
  3. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis (reviewed each separately)
  4. Devil’s Knot by Mara Leveritt
  5. The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Leo Tolstoy
  6. Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer
Least Favorite
  1. Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak
  2. The Boy in the Suitcase by Lene Kaaberbol
  3. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
  4. The Chimes by Charles Dickens

  1. I love that you listed a few of the good and the bad. The Boy in the Suitcase fell flat for me too. I love The Hobbit, but I read it for the first time when I was in 4th grade, so I think it has a special place in my heart.
