- Anything by David Sedaris, he has me laughing to tears every time. Although, if you need a recommendation, my favorite is Me Talk Pretty One Day
- Harry Potter series J.K. Rowling: This is fun fantasy series that has me smiling with enjoyment with a warm fuzzy feeling.
- Twilight by Stephanie Meyer: I actually really dislike this series, I think it’s a little immature and poorly written, but it is a fast light read that doesn’t require much thinking.
- Little Women by Louisa May Alcott: When I was nine this book felt like a soap opera and now see it as a nostalgic happy read.
- The Moorland Cottage or Cranford by Eizabeth Gaskell: Yes I know, a classic. How could a classic be light reading? these two novellas are quick and witty and well written to boot.
- Lytton Family Trilogy by Penny Vincenzi: I have technically only read the first book, No Angel, (the two to follow are Something Dangerous and into Temptation) with all the ins and outs, of a publishing house. (If you get what I mean.)
- The Flavia de Luce series by Alan Bradley: a mature cozy mystery
- The Luxe series by Anna Godberson: a trashy young adult series — there’s just no other way to say it.
- The Luner Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: These books are a great guilty pleasure of mine and just a fun read in general.
- Now, Voyager by Olive Higgins Prouty: A lovely romance and I love the Bette Davis movie.

Great list, I have Harry Potter on my list too and a classic – and yes, they are light/fun reading if it's one you really enjoy!
My Top 10 Tuesday!
YAY for Harry Potter! And I kind of agree with Twilight – they're kind of horrible, but I read the first one and I can see why it's a good, mindless read for a lot of people. Good escapism.
I'm not sure I'd classify The Lunar Chronicles as light, fun reading, but it actually kind of is, isn't it? Even though their worlds are in big trouble, the leading ladies are definitely upbeat. Such fun reads! I love this series.
I have to agree about Little Women – my mom gave me the copy she had gotten from her mom when I was like 8 or 9 and from time to time I go back to it mainly just for nostalgic reasons.
Me Talk Pretty One Day is my favorite Sedaris book as well!
I listed the same Sedaris book in my list! Also, I had no idea Now, Voyager was a book! I love the movie though.
I always had this idea in my head that David Sedaris was a serious and heavy writer, but with his new book out recently I keep hearing how funny he is – clearly I couldn't have been more wrong!
I love Elizabeth Gaskell; The Moorland Cottage, Ruth, Lois the Witch and Gothic Tales are still on my to-read pile, but of the ones I've read probably Wives and Daughters was the most fun, for me. Love her books so much though! Nice to see them on a list. 🙂
Totally enjoyed The Luxe when I read it years ago, that one took me by surprise. I bought the other books in the series but haven't got around to reading them yet.

I love, love, love Flavia de Luce. I just finished Speaking from Among the Bones, and oh my goodness, I need the sixth book right this minute!
It's so interesting to see what different people consider "light"! I love the Harry Potter books and Little Women (though I wouldn't consider the later HP books all that light, either in tone or in sheer bulk!) And Cinder is fun, and yes, relatively light despite its darker moments.
