The second is, It’s Monday! What Are You Reading  is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey her meme is exactly as it sounds, share what you are reading and/or what’s next on the ever growing TBR

Besides starting to pack up the house my cat had to have surgery this week.  Last month Zorro jumped off a really high cabinet and has been limping on and off ever since.  I felt like a bad mother waiting so long to take him to the vet but the vet said she would have waited to see if it healed on its own too.  I felt a little validated after hearing that.  The bummer is that for the next 6 to 8 weeks we will have to watch him like a hawk to make sure he doesn’t jump on/off anything and will have to crate him.  We’ve even gone out and bought a big dog crate.  Did I mention my fourteen pound cat also needs to go on a diet?  “He’s just big boned” is no longer an excuse.  All this while we are in the process of moving…

In other more exciting news, we got the lot!  We signed the paperwork, it is ours!  Now comes the exciting/scary part — designing our house.  Or as our builder put it, Christmas!

  1. Congrats, and good luck w/ Zorro (great name, BTW). A friend of ours built, and while it was occasionally overwhelming all the stuff they had to decide, it was so nice to see it all come together- hope it all goes smooth for you guys.

    • Thanks, we built a house when I was in high school, but it was one of those cookie-cutter subdivisions, building custom has turned out (obviously) to be much different but has been an interesting experience thus far.

Also thanks for liking my cat's name, he has black lining around his eyes that looks like a mask. Unfortunately, he is not as brave as the masked avenger.

  2. As a mommy of two kitties who are both diabetics .. getting your cat on a diet now is better then later. My Merry is 24lbs and Pippin is 19lbs. They are big boys. It is NOT cheap. They have had diabetes about two years now.

  3. I would be getting a dog crate for my cat, too!! That's hysterical!!! Please! NOT jump up and down from furniture – ha!!! Good luck on the diet, too. I've never had to put my cats on one but maybe if you just get the ickiest tasting food, that'll work (?)

Have fun building your castle!!! I'm entirely jealous and think you're crazy at the same time (tee, hee!!) But it'll be worth it in the end 🙂

  4. Congrats on getting the lot! Don't feel like a bad cat mommy. Cats are so resilient I would've waited too. It does not sound like fun having to watch him like a hawk though. I think the dog crate is a good idea. Good luck on the diet. We've had to do that with a cat and a dog at different times just switching foods and cutting down on quantities and it was pretty quick. Look forward to seeing what you think of the Lizzie Bennett book. I'm not a huge YA fan but that one looks really cute!
