Road Trip

While I never announced it, I was away on another family vacation and returned on Friday.  We drove to Jacksonville, Florida to visit my brother and his wife – always a good time, with great food, weather and awesome company how can you do wrong?

My parents and I then headed on to Savanna with our two Floridians trailing behind.  We were only there for a few days and later met up with my Sister-in-law’s family but, during our stay we took a trolley ride through the city, learning were the “Forrest Gump bench” really was, (note to self: watch Forrest Gump without falling asleep) we learned some history about the town too, and walked around some of their squares.  Upon leaving though, I felt there was so much that I didn’t cover, but without fault, the Gone with the Wind nerd in me whispered “this is were Scarlet O’Hara’s mother is from.

Next, my parents and I journeyed to Charleston where I celebrated my 29th birthday.  Charleston, the town Rhett Butler was forced to leave… Anyway, I was forced to face my fear of horses as we took a horse-drawn group tour of the city and like Savannah was given the chance to see the beautiful architecture and learn about the city’s history, this was also extended by a house tour we took which overlooked Fort Sumter.

So I’ll segue into my birthday eve, by the end of the day we were just tired, our feet were sore from walking around town, in other words, we wanted to crash.  Our solution?  A brilliant idea of asking for a good pizza place, took it back to the hotel and watch TCM.  On a side note, it was not Gone with the Wind.

The next day we packed our bags and headed home, being greeted by the cold I hadn’t missed, and long for warmer temperatures.
