Review Policy

I would first like to mention that I am not a proffresional reviewer.  I’m simply a reader who enjoys sharing thier personal opinion on the books I read.  I write honest reviews but am never cruel, following the golden rule in both life and blogging.  If you are interested in having me review a novel, or participating in a tour more review information is below as well as a contact form.

Thank you,

I Accept:

  • Fiction (general and historical)
  • Classics
  • Fantasy
  • Fairy Tales retelling
  • Classic retelling (although I am a purist in this genre and am extra critical)
  • Thrillers and Mysteries, leaning on the psychological side.

I DO NOT Accept:

  • Science Fiction
  • Horror
  • Poetry
  • Paranormal
  • Spiritual/inspirational
  • Self-Help
  • Romances with Fabio on the cover

On Non-Fiction:

I do review some non-fiction, although it is mainly true crime and general non-fiction.  That being said, First Impressions Reviews is mainly a fiction book blog, I prefer to review Pinocchio rather than a “real live boy” I do not like attacking in my reviews and feel like it could become personal when reviewing memoirs/autobiographies.  For this reason I DO NOT review memoirs.

Formats I Review

Print and ebook

Note: I also belong to NetGalley

Included in my reviews

  • Book Cover
  • a short summary, usually taken from Goodreads
  • publication date
  • Author
  • Publisher
  • Source
  • Link to Goodreads

I cross-post all my reviews to Goodreads and share them on Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest

How I write:

I should also mention that I can be very wordy and tend to write as I talk.  Therefore, while my goal is to come off as professional I also allow my personality to shine through.  I have a tendency to be sarcastic, although never in cruelty and tend to make references to pop culture and use lots of similes.  In other words, I try not to come off as sterile as a hospital.

Honesty is the best policy

While I have never lashed out and gone into attack mode I do write honest reviews; always giving examples to back these feelings up.  Although 95% of my reviews are positive.
