Laura Ingalls Wilder Reading Challenge

Posted December 7, 2011 by Whitney in Reading Challenge / 5 Comments

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I LOVED Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House Books growing up.  I read them to pieces.  The Hallmark Channel (or the equivalent in the 90s) played the television shows twice a day, once in the morning and again in the afternoon, both times the same episode and in the summer I’d watch or rewatch the episode too, despite owning the series on VHS.  Therefore, it should come as no surprise that I jumped up and down with excitement when I came across this challenge with the incentive to reread the series.
Here’s the Details:
This Challenge takes place in the month of February, (the month of her birth and death, February 7, 1867 – February 10, 1957)
“You can read anything Laura has written or anything written about Laura.
You can read alone or with your children or a friend. You can read just
one book or several throughout the month — whatever works with your
schedule. If you’d like to prepare some food or crafts somehow relating
to Laura or her books, that would be really neat too.”
And the best part about this challenge is that its leap year– a whole extra day of Laura!

  1. You have nothing to worry about–I'm anti-gun. Although, I do think this would be a fun way to be introduced to her, no matter what your age.

  2. This looks like so much fun. I read The Little House books for the first time last year, and I read a biography this year, on Laura. Have fun with this.

I see you're reading Sense & Sensibility right now. I ADORE that book. Hope you enjoy it! 🙂
