I’m Sick…Of My Reading Slump!

Posted November 19, 2011 by Whitney in Uncategorized / 4 Comments

I need to  get my mojo back!  I’ve been in a reading slump for a little over two months.  Right now, I am reading Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff which is reading a bit like a text book, putting me to sleep after two pages.  I normally would have given up by now but its for book club so I’ve given it a longer try than it deserves.  Although I don’t think I can last much longer.  Has anyone else been in a reading slump?  How did you get out of it?  Any suggestions are welcome!

  1. Reading slumps are bad. How about trying something completely different from what you usually read? Maybe that would help if your favourite genres don't work for you at the moment.

  2. That's too bad 🙁 I've been there, too. I think reading an old favourite helps or try a book that you've always been meaning to read or something a good bookish friend recommends. Good luck!

  3. Thanks for all the help, you had some great ideas! I've decided to go the "old favorite" route (why didn't I think of that before?) I'm going to try to break "the slump" with David Sedaris' Holidays on Ice, its short and sweet (or as sweet as Sedaris can be)
