Harry’s friends, Ron and Hermione also remind me of persons in the white house. Ron could be seen as Vice President Joe Biden, who is The Chosen One’s side kick and let’s face it can be a bit bumbling. Hermione could be Hilary Clinton as they each fought for rights of those who could not always speak for themselves. Hilary backed the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. And Hermoine… well, remember S.P.E.W. anyone?
Cornelius Fudge and Albus Dumbledore could also represent the Republican and Democratic parties. Fudge, who is judgmental and skeptical about what he is seeing and Dumbledore, who has complete faith in our hero.
I think the likeness between the Harry Potter characters and certain political figures is very interesting even though said public figures weren’t as much in the limelight at the time of publication.
