Q: Tell us about a book that you didn’t like and why we shouldn’t read it
A: I’m not sure if this even counts because I didn’t finish it, but my suggestion (or lack thereof) is Allegiant by Veronia Roth.
Below is my review for the novel:
I ordered Allegiant through the library and due to the massive hold I was unable to renew it.  I was not disappointed, in fact I felt the need to discourage the 104 people who were waiting to read this book.  I forced myself to read my 100 page minimum, but even that was a struggle.  The relationship between Tris and Four was too high school for me.  I know its a young adult book, but I felt the whole “our world is crumbling but let’s make out” premise was ridiculous and ruined the story for me.
Yes, there was action, but it mainly consisted of a string of people dying, and just got tedious.  Thus, the 100 pages I read became predictable.  I was also not crazy about the split storytelling between Tris and Four, at first I was confused by it and felt disjointed and by the time I became accustom to it, I just didn’t care.  As for the villein, I didn’t find Evelyn that terrifying, in fact I thought breaking up the factions wasn’t such a bad idea (just maybe not the way she went about it).  I felt having the separate factions created prejudice and the breaking of these five pieces would bring about less judgement.  Overall, and while I admit to not finishing it I felt Allegiant was a disappointment to an interesting trilogy.

In short, if you were/are a fan of the series and must read it, go in cautiously, and for those who have been thinking they about dipping their toes in, well I would not suggest it.
