The Classic Club has announced its Classic Spin Number

When I was eleven The Sound of Music was one of my favorite movies (although I always liked the first half better Nazis are scary). But I have always heard the that true Sound of Music story was much different and wasn’t always about te a drink with jam and bread, so I’m looking forward to reading The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp; especially when compared to some of the scarier books in the list The Odyssey scares me almost as much as the Nazis.

Good luck with the Trapp family! I will not pretend to like the Sound of Music (NO AUSTRIAN DOES, IT'S THE CAUSE OF ALL HORRIBLE CLICHES ABOUT OUR COUNTRY), but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.
And it's definitely better than the Odyssey 😉
It is horrible that a woman running down a hill has created such cliches; part of what attracted me to this book is to learn the truth behind Rodgers and Hammerstein. I'll keep that in mind when I read Trapp Family Singers.
I love the movie…have since I was a little girl. Have never read the book. I hope you enjoy it!
Mine is Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons. It was on my neutral list. I'm pleased because it's short. ;O)
Thanks, I'm interested to get started on it. I'm glad you're happy with your spin pick, I intentually choose smaller books for my 20 because I knew I wouldn't be able to finish Les Mis in a month.
Great pick! I love the movie as well, and have heard how the real story is not quite as romantic. I look forward to reading your review on this!
