The story of Ebenezer Scrooge opens on a Christmas Eve as cold as Scrooge's own heart. That night, he receives three ghostly visitors: the terrifying spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. Each takes him on a heart-stopping journey, yielding glimpses of Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit, the horrifying spectres of Want and Ignorance, even Scrooge's painfully hopeful younger self. Will Scrooge's heart be opened? Can he reverse the miserable future he is forced to see? Now in an unabridged edition gloriously illustrated by the award-winning P.J. Lynch, this story's message of love and goodwill, mercy and self-redemption resonates as keenly as ever.

I’m embarrassed to say that I had not read this short story since middle school and had forgotten how magical and uplifting it is.  It was so refreshing to see the transformation and various levels of change of spirit that Ebenezer Scrooge goes though.  Tiny Tim is so adorable and heartwarming with his “God bless us, everyone.”  that you cannot help saying aw.  Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol is a well-known holiday story with its message being universal, be kind and generous towards others, essentially following the Golden Rule.

  1. Allow me to say that at least you've read the book — I've never once read this one! Sure, I've seen the film, but I've not dived into the pages of this, and I'm really quite embarrassed. I'll have to pick up the copy and read it in time for the holidays!

  2. I re-read this every year! It is one of those books I don't review cause well it is just fantastic and everyone knows that right? Plus I rewatch 3 versions: George C Scott, Patrick Stewart, and Bill Murray (Scrooged)! One of my favs!

  3. I am having so much trouble NOT finishing it at one go. Had to put the book down with difficulty after stave one. This is one of my favourite holiday books!
