Character Connection

The Introverted Reader has started a new weekly meme entitle Character Connection
We all have characters we love. Let’s spotlight these fantastic creations! Whether you want to be friends with them or you have a full-blown crush on them, you know you love them and want everyone else to love them too!
It may be a bit of a cliche but my first character crush is Jane Austen’s Mr. Darcy. I love his aloof nature with an 1800s “bad boy swagger”  His intellect, and mysterious kind heart have always made me swoon too.   And I adore anyone who is as kind to a sister as he is with his Georgiana.  Lastly, and this is more a gush over the book but I love his ability to banter.  Unfortunately, this literary crush has set my standards to unrealistic proportions.
To conclude, here is one last reason why I have a crush on Mr. Darcy

  1. I'll be back when I'm on my computer and can see the video. Sounds like something to look forward to! πŸ˜‰ I was expecting to come over here and find Rhett. I'm more of a Wentworrh girl, but I know I'm in the minority on that one! Thanks for joining in today! I hope you had fun with it!

  2. Misty — yes who doesn't love Darcy? I've got a bit of a Colin Firth crush as well…

Jennifer G.– Rhett would have been the obvious choice with the GWTW theme I've got going on, but Fitzwilliam Darcy takes the lead in my heart by mere centimeters.

Mr. Darcy has grown so familiar to me over time that I don't find him so romantic any longer! Perhaps I should give Pride and Prejudice another read, and really try to see him with fresh eyes. (I remember envying a classmate from uni who had never heard of the story before and had no idea, until the end, whether Darcy and Lizzie were going to get together!)

  4. Ah, I think Darcy is classic; and I don't think I'll ever get sick of him! That's surprising that your classmate had never heard the plot of P&P before; I guess I thought it was pretty universal and Austen's works have been used for many movies. Although you're right I envy her innocence of unknowing the plot.

  5. I came back to watch the video. Very nice! πŸ˜‰ I'm ashamed to admit I've never seen that version of the movie. I'm going to make sure it's on my Netflix queue though. Thanks for sharing!

Yes — I agree! I also consider Colin Firth to be the only Mr. Darcy. Great eye candy, back then. (I'm afraid, for me, he has been replaced by Gerard Butler.)

  7. Jennifer linked me here after she read my latest post πŸ™‚ We sound soooo similar. Our posts, that is!

So much Darcy love around! I enjoyed reading this post πŸ™‚
